Appreciation Messages

It is possible for one to encounter a ‘guardian angel’ or a kind soul who extends his hand of kindness to us sometimes in our lives. When this happens, our hearts are filled with gratitude that we are compelled to respond in appreciation.

There are many ways to express your appreciation of someone who has done a good deed to you. You can say a simple ‘thank you’ or a good handshake; a gift as a token of appreciation is also acceptable as long as it is not outlandish that may cause embarrassment to the recipient.

However, a simple and effective way to show your appreciation is to write an appreciation message in response to the good deed. A well written letter of appreciation can convey your depth of gratitude when the right words are used as you can be free to express yourself with examples or feelings.

An appreciation message can be formally or informally written; if it is written between friends or family, it can be informally written where one can be more expressive in the letter content. Otherwise, the letter is formal, especially when it is in the business environment or acquaintances.

Occasions that warrant an appreciation message could include a promotion, a bonus, a substantial increment or some form of recognition for the employee in the workplace. An appreciation message could be written by an employee to return thanks to the management, superior or colleagues who have supported and assisted in the success of the employee.

Outside the office, appreciation messages can be conveyed between friends and family where a simple written thank you note in appreciation of the love, care, support or gift is delivered to the sender of the message.

Below is a sample ‘Appreciation’ message letter which an employee writes to his boss after receiving a recommended promotion in the office.

Retirement Messages

For those who work in an organization or with the government, there will come a day where one must ‘retire’, at least from the post or job.  Retirement is seen as a time of rest from active labor in the business segment where one is to take life at a slower pace. It is a time reserved for the many personal activities to be carried out or to realize unfulfilled dreams and desires, due to the busy work schedule or young family commitments.

Retirement messages can be given by a caring group of colleagues who wish to bid the retiring employee farewell from the workforce at a retirement party. The retirement message could have recollections and words of appreciation as well as well wishes.

Retirement messages are given in honor of the leaving employee. When it is delivered well and in sincerity, it can be quite overwhelming for the retiree which makes leaving the company more difficult.

On the other hand, a retirement message could come from the retiree as a farewell speech to those around him. He could also deliver a few words which summarize his time with the company and his gratefulness to those whom he calls ‘friends’ and not just ‘colleagues’ or business ‘associates’.

Below is a sample ‘Retirement’ message letter from the retiring employee to his fellow colleagues.

Beloved Friends at Total Solutions Consulting

I am so privileged to have the pleasure of working with each of you here at Total Solutions Consulting. I have enjoyed my 30 years here. Nothing managed to displace me from this wonderful place I called home for the past 30 years. You are my ‘family’.

It was a blessing in disguise to stumble into Total Solutions’ employment. I worked hard to rise to my current position; and I stabbed no one’s back. A massage and a good shoulder rub, perhaps.

My retirement message is simple. Work hard when you need to; then, you will be prepared to enjoy the time they call ‘retirement’. Give your best to the company without calculating your returns; they will come in due time.

The management has been kind to recognize my efforts; for that, I am most grateful. I pay attention to what is required for the company’s betterment and where I can, I offered my services. There is no need for any office politics because the war or business competition is out there. When we remind ourselves of our purpose here, we shall always stay beside each other for a good working environment.

Hence, my friends, fellow colleagues and comrades, thank you for being part of my life. I am moving on to new discoveries, the elderly kind, so they say but I am sure some shall still excite me.

Thank you for your support, cooperation and forbearance, which are virtues to harmony at the workplace. I wish you every good health and success in your future undertakings.

God bless you!

Patriotic Messages

Patriotism is a display of loyalty or partisanship by an individual or a group of people who pledge their allegiance to the nation, organization or even possibly an individual.

Patriotism, though, is usually directly to a country; however, it can be directed to a charismatic individual who is held high on a pedestal as the leader of a group of followers. It could also be a show of deep devotion to an organization.

Patriotic messages can come in many forms. It could be slogans chanted by the loyalists or songs specially composed to suit the occasion such as the leader’s great achievements, birthday or ruling anniversaries. On a national basis, patriotic messages usually come from the King, President or Prime Minister, the highest ruling authority of the nation, at the nation’s Independence Day, where the King, President or Prime Minister gives a speech to encourage the citizens. The speech is usually broadcast over the nation in various media like television, newspapers and Internet.

Patriotic messages which are delivered by the nation’s highest authority, an organization’s top authority, or any individual who is recognized as the group’s leader, usually consists of elements of loyalty to the cause of the group. Citizens or members are called to reflect on their past and present to propel into the future with greater hopes and achievements that would only be possible through the group’s objectives being focused and achieved.

Patriotic messages can also be conveyed by the subordinates to the authority as a pledge of allegiance to the organization.

Romantic Messages

Those in love can be at two extremes: on the one hand, they have nothing to say to each other, for they are too busy gazing into each other’s eyes, or on the other hand, may have plenty to say to each other.

Romantic messages are written to one party in love from the other. The contents can be simple and open, expressing one’s heart to the other. A well written romantic message may be very flowery or metaphoric in describing the wonders of the lover or their lives. It can be poetic and expressive that spikes up the romance in the relationship.

A romantic message can be written by either party of the love relationship. It need not be limited to young romantics only; married couples who love each other for a long time with a strong love relationship can also write each other a romantic message.

There are many occasions to write a romantic message: a birthday, an anniversary, Valentine’s Day, monthly or annual anniversaries for those who are not married but in a love or romantic relationship.

Below is a sample ‘Romantic’ message letter between a married couple celebrating their 25th Anniversary.

Darling B,

Re: Romance in the air

February 14th is such an eventful day for us!

1)    It is YOUR birthday!

2)    We met on this day 27 years ago! Le Love Café in Paris? I am so glad you went for an afternoon tea with your girlfriends and I had the pleasure of ‘bumping’ into you.

3)    I proposed to you on Valentine’s Day 26years ago; you said ‘YES!’ That was the happiest moment of my life! I couldn’t believe my ears to hear you say ‘Yes!’ I am so lucky.

4)    We got married on February 14th 25 years ago; thank God your pastor was not free any other day that month but on Valentine’s Day.

5)    Graham and Grace, our twins, were born on February 14th.

Truly, B, I feel so blessed! Not just because of the special date, February 14th, but because I have YOU in my life. You are the best thing that ever happened to me.

My life has been complete and fulfilling since you came in with your sunshine and love. If these first 25 years together are a reflection of what is forthcoming, I am ready and looking forward to the next 50! I want nothing less than to share my life with you. With the children big and away from home now, how about going on  that exciting round-the-world discovery trip which we started planning after we got married? The kids came and we had to put that trip on hold, remember?

Yes, darling B, let’s us reeve up our romance once again since it’s only the two of us now. How I look forward to that trip!

Happy Birthday! Happy Valentine’s Day! Happy Anniversary!

With all my love, B!

Ron

Birthday Messages

Birthdays come only once a year; so, it is always an important and special time to be celebrated. There are many ways to celebrate a birthday which could convey your birthday message; it could be a beautiful gift or a surprise party. A simple note of a heartfelt wish is warms the heart of the recipient.

There are many commercial birthday cards which one can easily buy off the rack to convey your birthday wish to the birthday boy or girl. A birthday message is usually a good wish included to bless the birthday party. It can be a formal message in the political or business environment where important business partners, associates and relations are wished success and prosperity; an informal birthday message is usually accorded to those whom you are more familiar with on a personal basis, such as family members or close friends.

A birthday message is a good occasion to remind the birthday recipient that he/she is remembered on his/her special day. Everyone likes to be acknowledged, and birthdays are great occasions just for that. A birthday message, even if simply conveyed, can establish or strengthen a relationship, especially when both parties stay far away or seldom meet up.

Besides the good wishes for the day, a birthday message can include many other things, like compliments on the birthday recipient, expectations and hopes to be materialized, or even confidence and re-assurance of the birthday recipient’s potential or capability.

A birthday message is always positive in nature, whether it is formally or informally written. It is always a delight to receive a birthday message as it contains good words and blessings to the recipient. An informal birthday message can be more expressive and light than a formal one. It may contain creativity in conveying the good wishes if written by a close relation.

Baby Shower Messages

Having a baby is experiencing a miracle within the expecting mom; hence, much effort is put into preparing for the baby’s arrival. A baby shower is a good way to prepare all who are involved to welcome the little bundle of joy into the world. A baby shower is not just for the benefit of the parents-to-be, it is a time of celebration and expectant joy for the grandparents-to-be, godparents-to-be, relatives and friends of the baby.

A baby shower can be a joyous as well as an emotional affair. Hope and excitement of a new arrival to the family are all hyped up; baby gifts and well wishes are plentiful. A baby shower message can come in many forms: in a cute little card welcoming the arrival of the baby, a touching poem of how new life comes about, well wishes and supporting words to the parents-to-be, especially the expecting mom.

A baby shower message is usually attached to the gift that a guest brings to the baby shower celebration. It usually holds endearing words to the mom-to-be and the baby. The words are very endearing according to the relationship of the gift bearer to the baby, like the godparent or grandparent.

Some countries, especially Asian countries, hold baby showers upon the arrival of the newborn; usually in a month after the baby is born. It is called a ‘full moon celebration’.

Baby shower messages could be written and read out at the baby shower by close friends or family members present; they could also be sent by well wishers who could not make it to the baby shower but want to encourage the parents-to-be or say a few words to the newborn.

Below is a sample ‘Baby Shower’ message letter which the grandparents write to the parents of the newborn to encourage them in their parental role to their new or impending addition to their family.

Re: Heartiest Congratulations!

We are delighted to hear of the safe arrival of your new baby.

We are making the necessary arrangements to travel down to your place soonest possible to hold our first grandchild, little Matthew. Thank you for naming him after your great-grandfather, Joanne. I am sure he is ‘as pleased as Punch’ up there.

We are sure that both of you will be great parents to little Matthew; he shall have the best of both worlds: yours and ours! We are the closest living things on planet earth for him.

As for our baby shower gift to little Matthew, your mom and I have decided to set up a trust fund for him. ‘It’s never too late to start saving…’, as your mom always says, Joanne. It is a small amount to start off Matthew’s education funds. It is a token of our love for little Matthew.

God bless you threesome!

With all our love,

Joseph & Eileen

Boxing Day Messages

Boxing Day is celebrated in many European countries which date back as far as the Middle Ages, although its origin cannot be confirmed. It is associated to a customary tradition where ‘boxes’ were placed at churches to collect funds and presents for the needy after Christmas to bless the less fortunate.

Boxing Day is now a public holiday on 26 December or the following day if 26 December is a Sunday.

Other countries may call Boxing Day slightly differently, as in Australia, it is called Proclamation Day.

Because of its tradition, Boxing Day is well known for a time of shopping frenzy whether in Britain, Canada, New Zealand and some parts of Australia and Europe. Since it comes right after Christmas, shops tend to have great sales to clear their Christmas or year stock, as they prepare to close the year and prepare for the New Year. Prices are drastically reduced which encourage shoppers heavy purchasing.

A Boxing Day message could be an invitation by non-profitable organizations to the public or its members to consider the poor and needy by making relevant purchases during Boxing Day sales and donating their purchases.

It could be deemed as a good occasion for charitable organizations to solicit donations or funds during this season. A Boxing Day message letter should be courteous and appealing while stating the objective of the letter. Information about the donation drive or fundraising activities for the less fortunate can be stated in a Boxing Day message.

Dear Martha

Re: Boxing Day message

It is a pleasure to be writing to invite you to join the Church of Christ in the following noble deed.

As you know, Christmas was celebrated very joyously yesterday with lots of giving and receiving. Now that it is over (so quickly), please allow me to invite you to consider the poor and needy who may have been neglected during the festive season; but it is still not too late! You and I can compile the so many gifts and cash that we have been blessed with recently to offer them to the less fortunate and more needy. It would be what our Lord Jesus would have done!

So, I invite you to bring in your gifts and cash to the church anytime from today till the end of the year for our administration to sort out for giving away. We have identified many needy families with young children and individuals who could do with a kind blessing from our parishioners.

We, at the Church of Christ, would like to thank you in advance for participating in this noble Boxing Day task. We look forward to your kind donations.

For Jesus,

Rev. James Riley

Christmas Messages

A Christmas message is a message of love, joy and hope to every believer in Christ Jesus, the Son of God. It is usually spoken out in a church service on Christmas Day as Christians celebrate an important day – the birth of their Savior, Jesus Christ. It can also be mailed out to the congregation by the church authority as some may not be able to attend the special church service on Christmas Day.

The spiritual authority will speak of the love of God for all mankind such that He gives His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for man’s sins, so that man will be free from the punishment of sin. This is God’s way of showing the full measure of His love for mankind. The Christmas story of baby Jesus, and his earthly parents, Joseph and Mary, are often played out in churches, cantatas and musicals to convey the great love of God for people.

The believers are reminded to love as Christ loved in a Christmas message; as believers, they are called ‘sons and daughters of the Most High God’. They are reminded of His love and grace on them. They are encouraged to grow to be more and more like Him. A Christmas message focuses on the true meaning for the occasion. The central theme of Christmas is JESUS. He alone deserves all praise, worship and honor. It is His birth on earth that is celebrated for mankind’s eternity.

It is a message of love, forgiveness and repentance of sin with eternity in mind.

Dear Brother/Sister-in-Christ

Re: Christmas message

Do you have room in your heart for Jesus?

That is the Christmas message I would like to bring to you this morning as we wake up to this wonderful day of Christmas. Many of us may not have the privilege of celebrating this Christmas with loved ones due to some other commitment or circumstances, but take heart, Jesus is with you!

And it is HIS day! Hallelujah! How wonderful that we can celebrate the birthday of a loved one every year. It is no different with our Savior, Jesus. In fact, His birth is SO important it MUST be celebrated every year to remind us to ‘make room in our hearts’ for him. The year is nearly over. Each of us, including myself, has been so busy throughout the year, with the things of the world, sadly to say, to care for the things of God.

But rejoice with me, brothers and sisters, that Christmas is the day we can put away other things in our hearts and make room for Jesus; for He made room for YOU when He chose to obey God’s plan to send Him to earth in the flesh.

We tend to make room for others who bless us, don’t we? Allow me to encourage you to ‘make room for Jesus’ in your heart this Christmas. He is the honored guest in our lives.

Have a Blessed Christmas!

Senior Pastor Frances F. Williams

Christmas Eve Messages

A Christmas Eve message is an important message to be conveyed. Usually the relevant spiritual authority such as the church Bishop, Reverend or Senior Pastor will give a Christmas Eve message. A Christmas Eve message is usually conveyed to the audience or parishioners of a spiritual organization on a Christmas Eve service which is held in expectation of the following day of celebration, Christmas.

A Christmas Eve message serves to remind the parishioners of the true meaning of Christmas which would be celebrated the following day. It is also a time of reflection for parishioners to consider the work of Jesus Christ on the cross for self and mankind.

A Christmas Eve message is very meaningful and impactful as it is directed to the soul, heart and spirit more than the mind and body. It serves to draw the parishioners to stay close to their Maker and God by acknowledging His great love for self and mankind. It is a message of love, forgiveness and repentance of sin with eternity in mind.

Below is a sample ‘Christmas Eve’ message letter from the top spiritual authority to its congregation in a Christmas Eve service.

Dearly Beloved in our Lord Jesus Christ

Re: Christmas Eve message

I bring you greetings from our Lord Jesus Christ of whom we worship and honor in our lives and at this place.

I am so honored to have this opportunity to address you, as my brothers and sisters in Christ, some of whom are even co-workers in Jesus Christ with me. Christmas Eve is indeed a blessed time for all those who love Jesus and who acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior.

Christmas Eve is the night before Jesus was born over 2,000 years ago. The shepherds at that time went about their way of life without any expectation of that great and mighty love coming down from heaven as man.

I am always in awe when I think of how great God’s love is for me, and you, and all mankind, to come in the form of a man; a little babe to be exact on that fateful Christmas night. Yes, He was God; yet He chose to come in the form of man for all of us to identify with Him as He with us. How amazing is God’s love for you and me, my dear brothers and sisters, that God should send His only begotten Son, Jesus into the world, in flesh, to die on the cross for our sins, as John chapter 3 verse 16 proclaims; so that we can be forgiven and accepted as His precious children and look forward to our rightful place in heaven one day, soon.

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas tomorrow, let us be found waiting tonight for our Lord Jesus too. Let us be willing and ready to give Him our very best as His forgiven and beloved children. Have a Blessed Christmas with the love and joy of Jesus in your hearts and souls.

God bless you richly,

Reverend Eli C. Mordecai

Condolence Messages

Condolence messages are conveyed to a grieving party who has just experienced the loss of a loved one. Grief is a hard emotion to take on; much more in supporting the grieving party for no one can truly feel the same depth of loss as the grieving party.

Hence, it is important to convey the right condolence message at the right time with the right words to the right party. A condolence message is not only to convey the sender’s sadness over the demise of someone close to the grieving party; it is also a show of support to the grieving party who may be in shock over the death which could have come on unexpectedly.

Right words are important in a condolence message where the sender must be sensitive to the feelings of the grieving party. Words can console but some words can also trigger off further sadness in a grieving recipient. Hence, sometimes being there in silence may be a better option.

Condolence messages can be encouraging to the grieving party as they convey the basic message that the grieving party is not alone in this time of sorrow. Others around him also feel the sadness, and coming together in solidarity brings strength to the grieving party. As the saying goes, ‘A joy is doubled when shared while a sorrow is halved’.

Re: Deepest Condolences

It is with deep sorrow to hear of your husband’s sudden passing last Sunday. I am so sorry that it happened so unexpectedly that you had no time to prepare yourself. I know that you are in quite a shock right now. Please know that I am here for you in any way you need support.

Should you need someone to make any necessary funeral arrangements or assist you in some of the legal procedures that are related to deaths, please feel free to call on me. I will be willing to come by your side. Just say the word, Lisa.

Don’t worry about work. All is well in the office. Your work responsibilities have been delegated to cover for you while you take the time off to grieve and gain back your strength.

Robert was a good man; I am glad I got to know him better through you. We could click together quite well. I shall miss him dearly and the fishing trips we used to enjoy together. Thank you for giving me the opportunities to spend time with Robert on those fishing trips. You never did like fishing, did you?

Take good care of yourself; I have applied leave on your behalf. Let me know when you are ready to come back to work. The whole department sends their condolences. We are here to support you each step of the way.

In sincere sorrow,

Jacob
