Credit Card Authorisation Letter

Last Updated On September 7, 2018 By Letter Writing

When you need to give someone the authority to use your credit/debit card, you need to write an Authorization Letter. Such a kind of letter should be typed and printed as it looks more professional. Use the appropriate professional tone and make sure you keep the letter formal. The letter doesn’t need to be a long one; you must keep it short and sweet.

A standard professional format should be observed while writing this letter. Usually, such a letter is addressed to a company, financial institution or any other large corporation. However, if this kind of letter is written to an individual known personally, then the letter can be written a little casually and in an informal tone. In business format, the name and address go at the top of the left-hand letter, all single spaced. Skip a few lines and then put the date. Then skip a couple of more lines and add the company or recipient of the letter. If the letter needs to address to a particular person, then send it directly to them or make an attention line.

Credit Card Authorisation Letter Writing Tips

  • Mention that the letter is an authorization for a credit card
  • Include who is going to be authorized and what he/she is being authorized for.
  • Lastly, put your signature as this is the most important part.
  • Grammatical Errors should not be there.

Dear Store Manager,

My good friend, Jose Bernardino, is going to be taking care of my grocery shopping needs while I am in the hospital laid up from my surgery. I need to have a surgical procedure that will require me to take complete bed rest for at least a month. Meanwhile, he will be handling my grocery shopping, as well as the other bill payments during this period. He is authorized to use a Master Card issued by Lotus Bank, and it has a $1000 limit. I have given him the card, and the credit card number is 5550-5465-0834-1459.

Please authorize Jose to use this card to buy items from your shop from DD/MM/YYYY, until DD/MM/YYYY. Any purchases after this time span will not be approved by me and will be disputed to the credit card company. I also request you that you always check for identification and a xerox copy of this letter when making any purchases with Mr. Bernardino.
