Marathon Fundraising Letter

Last Updated On August 11, 2018 By Letter Writing Leave a Comment

With many marathons out there, it is hard to get people running for a cause. Many people run as a career. But with kind runners out there you might want to run and donate what you have earned towards a certain cause o charity project.  So when you want people to be a part of the marathon, you invite them. You send them a marathon fundraising letter so that they can donate a fairly amount of money. You can either be invited to be part of the marathon to raise funds or just be required by a specific runner to donate towards his running in a marathon.

Fundraising, especially marathon ones, are almost always non-profitable and all the money raised is used for the intended cause. The letter must be styled formally and persuasively. The reader of the letter must be persuaded to contribute the marathon funding. The letter should mention what incentives the donor will obtain by contributing to the marathon fund. The letter should mention the name of the organization and its contact details.

Marathon Fundraising Letter Writing Tips

  • Drafting the letter is not complicated at all, you just need to win the donor’s heart and persuade them enough to send that donation.
  • Identification – make sure that when you start writing this letter to you donor, you specify the name of the organization needing the funds, the need for the funds and also the amount required for donation.
  • Benefits – depending on why you need the funds from the fundraiser you need to explain how it will benefit the school, the pupils and also the community at large. With these informative details, you will be able to steer the donor’s mind towards the donation of funds.
  • Personalize – a donor is also a human being so when you get right down personal with them, they will understand the message. Make them see the objective though of the fundraiser, be emotional, get deep into these feelings.

Dear Mr./Ms/Mrs.______(Name of the recipient)

As we all are aware that our club is involved in various activities for the community. This time, as every year, we have arranged a Marathon from Victoria terminus to Nariman Point on 2nd October 25, 2010. This marathon is based on the objective to keep our city clean.
Our government is working hard to keep our city clean, but we must help our tournament for the same objective. We all will be distributing pamphlets on awareness to keep our Mumbai clean. We want our general public to know that keeping the city clean will not only help in stopping the spread of unwanted diseases but will spread the importance of hygiene in the city.

To make our goal come true, please do donate funds for the marathon. The entire amount donated for the marathon is very much tax deductible. Any person above 18 years of age can willingly participate in this marathon. For more information on this event, you can visit our site or feel free to contact us.

Yours truly,

S.M.Kohil

(Lions Club of Mumbai.)
