Condolence Letter on Death of Mother

Last Updated On June 27, 2018 By Letter Writing Leave a Comment

To any human, their mother is said to be the one person who is most important to them. A mother is someone who would not think twice before risking her life to protect her child. She does it out of pure love and admiration for her child and not for any selfish reason of her own. A mother is someone who understands the child like no one else. For this very reason (and due to many other reasons), losing a mother is disastrous. It is very tough to move on from the loss of a loved one, even more so when it concerns the mother.

A condolence letter on the death of someone’s mother is written so as to provide some form of comfort to the person who is currently facing a hard time. While writing a condolence letter, one must understand that the topic of death is really touchy and hence must not be insensitive about it. They should sympathise with the reader and provide them with words of comfort. They must also offer help to the reader in whichever form they can.

Writing tips for this letter

  1. Use of words that convey your message in a very soft and comforting manner is preferred so that one does not aggravate another person’s pain in any manner. (Of course, unintentionally)
  2. Try making the letter as short as possible because, in such circumstances, one is usually not in a state to go through long letters.
  3. Make the language lucid enough.
  4. Try incorporating humour in the letter, if possible.

Dear Paul,

I have heard about your mother and I am very sad to know about her death. This may be not the right time for you to read a letter but I just want to give my deep condolence on this sad incident. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you now, but please trust that I care about you.

I met her at a party at your place and got very impressed by the simplicity of your mother. She was a wonderful and charming lady. Last year when I came to your home, she was very happy on the birth of her grandson. Your mother was such a kind, gentle soul. She would do anything to help improve the life of a child. It is very hard for me to believe that she is not with us anymore. I cannot imagine how much you will miss your mother but you’ve always seen the best in everybody you know because of your generous heart. This is a very difficult time for you but I know that you will get through this.

Please give my kind wishes to your family also and tell me if you need any kind of help. I will always be here to support you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,

Dear Paul

I have heard about your mother and I am very sad to know about her death. This may be not the right time for you to read a letter but I just want to give my deep condolence on this sad incident.

I have known you and your mother for over 12 years and have grown to love her as my own mother. It was very hard to hear the news about her death and I cannot imagine the pain you must be in right now. She will be greatly missed by all those who know her. Your mother was one of the kindest, most caring people we knew, and was always having helping hand for friends and neighbours. We will always remember her  smile and open heart.

Please give my kind wishes to your family also and please do let me know if you need any kind of help.

Thanks,

I met her at a party at your place and got very impressed by the simplicity of your mother. She was a wonderful and charming lady.
