Sample Condolence Letter Death

Last Updated On September 3, 2018 By Letter Writing Leave a Comment

Writing a condolence letter is one of the most difficult letters to write because it is very emotional. This kind of letter can be to anyone whom you know as a relative, friend, colleague, neighbor, etc. If it is to a loved one, then it should be in an informal tone and if it is to someone in your office, then maintaining a formal tone is essential.

First, start the body of the condolence letter by letting the recipient or a grieved family member know how you have heard about the death of the person you about to offer your condolences about. In the 2nd paragraph, you express your feelings about the death of the individual, which was unexpected or if the person was ill for a long time.  In the 3rd paragraph, you should mention something about the person like the times spent together. Mention some of his fine qualities and characteristics that you experienced in person. For example, if he was a very friendly personality, honest and hardworking. In the concluding paragraph, you should offer help to the help, and it can be anything financially or emotionally.

Tips for Writing Condolence Letter

  • Avoid exaggeration in the letter and make certain that the words you use express genuine feeling about the deceased.
  • Make certain that you do not write a lengthy letter about the deceased person. Writing clear and concisely about the person is effective.

Dear Sarah,

The news of the sudden and untimely death of your aunt came as a great shock to us. Your aunt was a goddess in the widest sense of the term. Her admirable temperament, sweet tone, and liberal attitude had endeared her to all her neighbors, friends and relations.

I know how much you were attached to her. She was not only your aunt but your friend too. I still remember whenever we were late from college, we always found her on the balcony eagerly waiting for you.

While it is an irreparable loss to you, your family has lost a pillar of them. May God give you and your family strength to bear the loss! Tony was also shocked by the news. He also got a chance to meet her when we were at your place for the Christmas party. We pray that the soul of departed rest in peace.

With deepest sympathy from both of us,

Sincerely,

Anna
