When one requires leave from their workplace, it is necessary to inform one’s superiors regarding the same. This must be done in writing as it forms proof that can be documented. It also forms proof for the employee that he has informed at work before availing leave. This written leave request can be in the form of a written or typed leave letter or as an email.

A holiday notice letter is used as a formal notice to inform one’s boss about the actual dates of his holidays. This is usually written after informing the boss unofficially about his tentative holiday plans beforehand. He informs the name of the colleague/coworker who will manage jobs on his behalf during his absence and also leaves his contact details in case of urgent need or emergency.

Holiday Notice Letter Writing Tips

  • Begin by writing that you had already asked for permission to go on holiday informally beforehand.
  • Mention that after confirming your plans, you are using this letter as a holiday notice and request for leave.
  • Specify the duration of leave and name of the colleague who will handle your work responsibilities in your absence.
