Holiday Letter

A holiday letter is written to ask for permission to proceed on a holiday. This is written by an employee in an organization or by a parent on behalf of their ward. The letter should mention duration of absence and tentative date of joining back. It should be concise, brief, short and preferable written in a formal tone. Since holidays are planned for long duration, an employee should post this letter well in advance so that the boss can make alternate arrangements for the individuals’ absence.

  2. Briefly state reasons for asking leave if possible.
  3. Nominate a coworker who will handle your work during your holiday period.

Dear Sir,

As I had already mentioned, the date of marriage has been fixed for 06October2013. Since I have aged parents, I will have to be present in advance to supervise arrangements and stay back for few days after the wedding to complete all tasks.

I will hand over my duties and responsibilities to my team-mate, Larson and also leave my contact details with him in case of any urgent requirements or clarifications.

I will personally hand over my marriage invitation as soon as I get them and will be glad to see you at my marriage function.

Please approve my request for holiday for three weeks and oblige.
