Formal Letter of Resignation

Last Updated On August 28, 2018 By Letter Writing Leave a Comment

When an employee decides to resign from his or her position, a formal letter of resignation should be written to inform your manager in person. A letter provides official notice that you are leaving your job, including your last date of employment. The letter will also act as a record that you have complied with your employer’s notice requirement which is a prerequisite in many multinational companies.

Always keep the letter simple and to the point. Don’t mention unnecessary details and come straight to the point. The reason for the resignation should be explicitly referred to in the resignation letter. The tone of the letter should be humble and polite.
