Charity Request Rejection Letter

Last Updated On May 29, 2018 By Letter Writing

A Charity Request Rejection Letter is a letter which is written by a person or an organization to respectfully decline a charity request made by a charitable organization or any other foundation. The decline letter is meant to specify as to why a request for a donation has been turned down and the reasons underlining it. The reason can be stated or it can be rejected in general terms. It depends on the mentality and attitude of the person who writes the letter. The letter should have  positive language and friendly spirit but at the same time, no compromise should be made on its formal nature.

Since this is a letter of rejection, the writer must be very polite and formal in the approach. Writing a letter to the organization would make the reader realize that his/her request has been considered. The writer shall also be acknowledged on the part of the receiver if the rejection letter is well-formed. It can sometimes be problematic for the writer to script the letter in such a way so as not to hurt the reader. Consider reading the following tips to draft a perfect Charity Letter of Rejection.

Dear ____________ (Sir/Madam),

This letter is in response to your charity letter of appeal sent to us by your organization on _____________ (Date on which the letter was sent). We greatly appreciate your persistent efforts and believe that it will benefit as well as improve the society at large. We acknowledge your thoughtfulness for asking us to contribute to the great cause of community welfare. However, we are apologetic that we will not be able to help you.

Thank you for inviting us to sponsor the __________. We agree that this is a very good cause, but unfortunately, we will not be able to help this year.

With the downturn in the economy, our company, like so many others, has had to rationalize our corporate giving, and we have already reached our limits for this fiscal year.

Also, the resources of our company have been used to aid the victims of the recent earthquake at Nepal. Hence, the funds are depleted. If you will contact us before the end of February of next year, we will be in a better position to consider your application.

We wish you every success in your initiative and efforts.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr. Ajay Chauhan,

This letter is in response to your charity letter of appeal sent to us by your organization on 28th January 2017. We acknowledge your kind consideration for providing us with the opportunity to fund the event.

Thank you for inviting us to sponsor the JITO Gala.

We highly value the work done by you and believe that your campaign shall prove to be fruitful for the community welfare. However, it is with deep regret that we will not be able to help you. Sadly, our organization is also over-committed to charitable donations to other organizations this year. Therefore, we will not be able to assist you in your cause.

We would like to be in contact with your organization for possible future donations. If you will contact us before the end of February of next year, we will be in a better position to consider your application. Meanwhile, accept our sincere apologies.

We wish you every success in your initiative and efforts.

Yours sincerely,

Intakhab Alam
