Resignation Letter Format

A resignation letter is a formal announcement of an employee’s resignation from an organization. While there is no single format for such a letter there are some basic guidelines which need to be followed. Look at the example given below to maintain an acceptable resignation letter format.

  • Be formal and to the point
  • Clearly identify yourself and the person you are addressing
  • Mention your resignation in the first para itself
  • State your last working day at the organization and the no. of years worked
  • Request references if required

Email Format

This letter is written to inform the management of the intention to resign from the company from a particular date. The required period of notification for a resignation is stated. The resigning employee will fulfill his responsibilities before the end of his tenure.

RE: RESIGNATION NOTICE

I am writing to inform you of my intention to resign from Parker Engineering Ltd in December 2010. I am submitting a 3 month notice as required in my contract. My last day of work will be 15th December 2010. I have no outstanding leave that needs to be cleared.
